Ava DuVernay born August 24 72, from Long Beach CA. DuVernay was able to explore her artistic and creative side when she was a young girl, thanks to Aunt Denise. DuVernay attended University of California Los Angeles following her graduation, and earned qualifications in English and African American Studies. DuVernay started producing for broadcast journalism while she was in her college. DuVernay was a CBS News intern during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalls being tasked to observe the house of one of the members of the jury and go through their garbage. Her tasks to accomplish left her unsatisfied which is why, when she decided to not pursue journalism, she shifted to the field of public relations. DuVernay was hired straight from college to be an assistant publicist in the studio that was small. Her own Public Relations company, The DuVernay Agency was founded in 1999. In addition to PR, the company has also launched lifestyle networks as well as promotional campaigns, such as the Urban Beauty Collective.
