Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, ex-chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. She hosts the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. The spiky blond hair and bubbly persona Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers clear, easy to learn techniques to cook at home on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also has worked in some of New York's top eateries, studied Italian cuisine as well as its traditions. She also competed in Food Network Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. She pursued her love of working in the restaurant business by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America following her graduation in English and Communication from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing adventure for me. It was impossible to study or be a better cook than I did. After graduating, Chef Burrell spent a year in Italy participating in an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners during her time at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany. The chef gained an understanding of Italian food and culture through her travels in Italy which has had an impact on her culinary style. Burrell is a well-known ambassador to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that assists children who are struggling. In her capacity as an inspirational speaker, she is on the road to share her passion for cooking and food, as well as to talk about her profession in culinary. Anne stated that she felt privileged having the opportunity to be able to share her passion for cooking with the people around her.
